Esran before he met Sifu.
Esran -The happy boy who now plays happily!
Much has happened.
When my darling son was born in November 2002, he was a jolly but very demanding baby...being new to motherhood I had no clue how to handle him. But with with the amazing love and support of my mother, Ramaa and husband, Sippe, I learnt to comfort, coax ;-) and calm my dear little treasure. I had practised yoga all through the pregnancy and my son's sensitivity seemed to bear proof of that to me somehow. The first four months of my life with Esran were super, and then....the illnesses started.
Esran was never a good sleeper or feeder. Feeding times and bedtimes were extremely demanding, to say the least...and when he started getting eczema and asthma attacks - at 4 months old, mind you (!), it broke my heart to see him. All of 2003 we suffered silently, becoming sleep-deprived and more and more at a loss. But our joy and love of Esran never seemed to abate. Everyone around us had a lot to say, more often that not negative - and my confidence in being good enough to bring my son up diminished with each opinion.
Then, after a particularly disastrous holiday - awful is being mild - we had to sit up with him all night and he was in a hospital every two days - nightmarish is really the word I believe - the worst was that you could not do anything about it all - just stand and watch as he was administered drugs and oxygen, hoping nothing really bad will happen to him - but knowing how awful it all felt. Being an asthma patient myself I felt doubly bad - that I knew what my dearest one was going through, but that I had indirectly given him this weakness through my genes...
In 2004 the situation was well out of control - Sippe and I had not slept for as long as we could remember. Esran reacted very badly to most solids and had to be given Ventolin regularly in the hospital. His screams when the mask was placed on him still give me nightmares ...well almost gone since I practise Chi ;-). But after harrowing months, the doctor decided to put him on Prednisol, a strong drug - which, ironically, would stunt his growth, and interfere in his normal eating and sleeping patterns!!!!!!! These drugs are supposed to help - but Esran would get worse - his asthma would lessen, but he would run wildly across the rooms and not eat or sleep at all - and get another asthma attack.
That year, for my husband's birthday I gave him Sifu's book on Shaolin Kung Fu- picked on feeling from Amazon(!). Sippe never really reads much else than texts on Yoga and Indian Philosophy, but his avid love of Kung Fu led me to give him this book, and after finishing the book in record time he asked me the question I had never heard ever from him - are there other books available from this Master? I ordered all the available ones from Amazon, and Sippe read them all - a real record!!!
A few months after he told me that he was going to email the Master from 'those books'. He was amazed at the prompt and loving reply he received from Sifu - that we should bring Esran to him as soon as possible. Sippe trusted this totally and was planning to even go to Malaysia, but my son's health began to deteriorate even more. After emailing Sifu once more, Sifu graciously asked us to visit him anywhere, even in Europe where he would be travelling. After many long waits with a dreadfully sick child at Schiphol airport to go to Barcelona - we finally managed to get a ticket to Helsinki, Sifu Markus Kahila was very very kind to let us bring Esran to see Sifu.
The flight up was a nightmare, Esran cried and cried...finally, we were at the venue, and just as we arrived, I saw Sifu got out of a car, in a lovely, calm, airy courtyard before the centre where he was giving the Finnish courses - and instantly I was reassured, and felt great waves of affection and blessing flow over me. amazing, really! Sifu was wonderfully kind - he came at once to our room, and warned me not to be scared by his actions. He began to swing Esran around, and soon we had to open the windows, and Sifu told us that there may be some unrest in my son that night. Dear Sifu Kahila helped us by giving us a room in the neighbourhood of other participants who would not mind Esran's screams and sleeplessness.
It was actually the worst night. The next three days we stayed near Sifu and he helped Esran heal. We also saw the students attending the course bloom with each day. Sifu said that Esran had very good energy and that is was good that Sippe would do the Intensive Course in Sabah, so then he could keep up with his son!
On the way home Esran not only slept in the car, but it was the calmest flight we had ever made with him.
Sippe attended the Intensive Chi Kung Course in July in Sabah that year, learnt how to help our son. After a few months (July-December) my son improved dramatically - Sifu had asked us to stop the medication, with trepidation I did so - Sippe was totally confident. I love his conviction, it gives me so much!
On the 3rd of October I had our second child, a lovely baby girl, very much a Chi baby - she slept like an angel, fed well, and was the soul of discretion;-). Although I could not practise as I was pregnant, Sifu's suggested gentle visualisation exercise helped so much that the delivery was easy and smooth.
The 17th of January 2005, the consulting paediatrician at the Children's Hospital could not believe her ears when she listened with her stethoscope to Esran's lungs - 'he's completely clear' she said, amazed - and that too in the most critical time of the year - winter!!! The Doctor made a note in Esran's dossier that it was thanks to Sifu's Chi Kung, so that other parents could avail of the information for their children should they be in the same state.
Much has happened since, but that's another story as it is said....my son is living proof of Sifu's Effectivity to heal with Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung. And every day I read my son a bedtime story and see him fast asleep at 8 pm, and still snoring at 6 am in the morning, I send my prayers of gratitude - this was the boy who was completely awake every two hours each night...
Thank you Sifu, really. It's amazing, but true.
My daughter has no asthma or eczema. Thanks to the blessings and guidance of Sifu she is strong and healthy!
If I go on more it will become an epic...which it promises to be, but let's keep part two for another time...
Love Priya
Racheli from Israel with her 'chi baby'.

Hiatus Hernia by Peter Clayton.
In November 2005, while attending a meeting with a voluntary organisation, I felt faint, dizzy, and nearly collapsed. At 23 (then) I had never experienced ill health of this kind so I was taken to a doctor. Fast forward, the doctors could only speculate on a few things (they actually did an ok job). It was possibly an ulcer, stress or gastritis. I found myself on prescription drugs, which if I didn't take them, I would be in considerable pain after food. In the meantime, I had long been promising to attend Sifu Joan's chi-kung classes for a couple of years and was now kicked into action (also by an inspiring email from Sifu herself!). Coincidentally, my last pill was on the day I travelled to Kerry. I never took one again. Mid-course I had a gastroscopy (camera vs. throat situation ). The results said I had a small hiatus hernia. Two months after my last class with Sifu and the symptoms seem to have vanished. I can eat whatever I choose without ill-effect. I would just like to express my thanks to Sifu & Sigung. WSS, Peter Clayton.
Emotional problems by Damien Murray
Chi Kung has helped clear away a lot of emotions that were making me feel depressed, stressed out and also very tired. It has helped me to listen to myself and take action quicker. It has also helped me to see the bigger picture in life, like happiness with what I’ve got and not to be searching for more possessions.

Whiplash and Rheumatoid Arthritis by Noreen Owens.
On April 20th 2006, I had an accident and injured my neck and back. I started Chi Kung on April 24th and today July 3rd I would describe my injuries as 80% cured, thanks to Chi Kung.
About 2/3 weeks ago at Chi Kung class I was telling Sifu Joan that when I stand for a few minutes after Chi Flow, I feel an incredible flow of what I describe as chi flowing down my arms into my hands and also down my legs into my feet. During the last week, I got a result of a blood test taken in early April (before Chi Kung) from a consultant and he told me that the tests were mildly positive for Rheumatoid Arthritis. The Chi Kung had already found it.

Meniere’s Disease and Osteoarthritis by Theresa Ronan.
I have been suffering from Meniere’s disease fro 17 years. Traditional medicine controls it but I am looking for a cure.
Since practicing Chi Kung for 9 months, I have found a remarkable improvement. I haven’t had an attack in months and don’t feel any pressure in my head. I have much more energy and osteoarthritis in the hip and knee has disappeared. I practice everyday and will continue to do so. Long live Chi Kung!
Theresa Ronan.
Back pain by Mary Ronan.
Since attending Sifu Joan’s classes on Chi Kung, I am happy to say that my back pain and shoulder trouble has improved so much. I did not need to attend my osteopath for the past 10 months, whom I usually had to go to six or seven times a year for the past 9 years.
Chi Kung is relaxing and revitalizing and is now part of my daily life.
Thank you Sifu Joan.
Mary Ronan.
Barry, also one of my students has overcome Psoriasis. He learned Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung from me in 04 and has been clear after some months of practice.- Sifu Joan

Healing experiences with Sifu
Hello all!
I want to share a healing experience with Sifu I was lucky to witness. We just finished a course in Quito, Ecuador. My father has been suffering from "Meniere Syndrom", which symptoms are being dizzy and having vertigo. He has been about 5 years with it, comming and going, but the last 3 months have been reallly bad. He had been to all kind of doctors, finding no answers.
When Sifu came for the course, he saw my father, and in about 5 minutes, asked him to enter to Chi Kung state of mind and then opened some points and cleared the blockage.
In just 5 minutes 5 years of suffering were over! It happened 15 days ago, and he has a new face, is feeling great, and has had no sign of "Meniere Syndrom"

Dear Jose Siheng, Many thanks for sharing this amazing insight story.
Sifu has indeed great healing powers. At the Chi Kung course in Italy this May, I could also experience how Sifu treated my girlfriend, who was suffering from Firbomyalgia, several headtraumatas and caused by that chronic migrena. Her condition has changed amazingly after practicing Chi Kung for about three years, thaught by Sifu. At this course after a Golden shower, big rooted blockages came too surface, a sign of a cleancing of a deeper blockage. I should tell, that she generated a lot of energy during this course as she also took part at the Tai Chi Chuan course. Yet the internal flow during the Golden shower was relatively strong and covered by pain. After 3 minutes of treatment by Sifu, who also opened some relevant energy points, she was completely changed and she told us that she couldn't feel any pain anymore. Until now her condition lasted on a level, which is to me as a therapist amazing.
Many thanks to Sifu for his generous teachings,
Respectfully,
Roland

Excellent! Thankyou for sharing your experience. I would like to share one of my own if I may.
My son Ollie (now 3) has mild cerebral palsy. At age 9 months my son was unable to sit up unaided for more than 10 seconds. Sifu was teaching a Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung regional course in London and invited my wife Clare, Ollie and I down to see him. I still remember getting the phone call from the course organiser because it was Clare's 30th birthday and we had made plans. After the call I sat there worrying about how to break the news to Clare that we had been invited down to London by Sifu so he could work on our son. I needn't have worried because Clare was quite excited by an unplanned trip to the Capital.
Sifu warned us before hand that what he was about to do may look a little "scarey", but that we shouldn't be alarmed. I think I still have the scars on my hand from where Clare dug her nails in But Ollie loved it.
The very next day after Sifu's treatment Ollie sat up unaided for over 10 minutes For Clare and I this was nothing short of a miracle. Indeed Clare herself said that it was the best birthday present she could have recieved
I could go on, but I won't
Thankyou Sifu.
Kind regards
Marcus

Cheers Marcus Siheng!
Just a quick note: what Sifu did behind Alena, was not only onpening some enerqi points. He also did some strange almost Kung Fu like looking movements along the meridians on the back without touching her. Riccardo Siheng, who kindly made this possible was also very, very surprised about what was going on. When Sifu was working on her she suddenly went into Chi flow and all of a sudden she burtsed out in tears.
What was more important, was the fact, that we all could see the result out of this treatment. A completely changed person. Somehow I got the impression that she showed her true nature much more than ever. I mean her face got colour again, her eyes became so full of life and she just felt amazingly. She was smiling all over her face. She told me afterwards that not only the pain in her head disappeared, but also her emotions turned into an increadible inner peace.
Respectfully,
Roland
Comments from students who took part in the Wahnam Tai Chi Chuan and Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung courses during
the Valentines Smile from the Heart week February 06.
Dear Sije Joan,
Ireland seemed so familiar and close to me, with people that I came across and lands that we had chance to enjoy, it felt like home. One of the reasons for sure must be, that we were so very welcome. Thank you!
Tai Chi Chuan course was unexpected experience, even more as I was perfectly happy with my practice and generated energy before the course. So to my surprise new dimension was introduced to me and to such an extend that at the very end of day one I have had a change of paradigm.
Thank you Sifu for giving me the chance to start learning Taijiquan in its martial aspect. I am overwhelmed with better understanding and my practice has now more solid foundation and deeper meaning.
Best toughts and smile to all new friends from Igor

Hi Joan , I just wanted to thank you for an fabulous wonderful week .I feel privileged to have trained with such a great master and to have met so many wonderful people .I had some unbelievable experiences ,one in particular during Sinew Metamorphous I will never forget .I really enjoyed the Tai chi and Shaolin Kung Fu ,even if though I started to go a bit blank for a while during the last session .I've been enjoying doing the exercises every morning and can feel a lot of energy moving through different parts of my body . I wouldn't be able to make it on the 5th of March as I'm working but I would love to keep in touch if your organising more Kung Fu days during the year . I'm still smiling from the Heart ,so Thanks again Joan and if you could pass on my thanks to Grandmaster Wong for a week I will never forget . God Bless , David .
Joan, I'm still buzzing. Thank you for organising such a wonderful course, I feel privileged to have been there and met Sifu. I'm so glad that we have been given the opportunity to learn from him, it would have been a tremendous loss to the world if he had not decided to spread his knowledge.
Thank you Joan, and I look forward to meeting everybody again, Alan
Welcome to the Ireland 2006 Course thread. I think many of us had some fantastic experiences during the course, and I invite you to share your experiences here.
First off, I'd like to say that the more Shaolin Wahnam members I meet, the more I feel like I am part of a large and happy family. This includes new members as well. We are all practicing very special arts.
The most powerful experience I had over the weekend was during the Sinew Metamorphosis course. During first few attempts I didn't have a real wow effect, but after talking a lot with Barry and John(Hi guys! John, I'm expecting posts from you!)during the dinner break I finally decided to just let go. Yes, this worked. I felt like I had rockets strapped to my arms, which were moving at what seemed like incredible speeds in the way ski jumpers used to move their arms, but in reverse. Eventually they swung up above my head an felt connected to a powerful energy field above me. One of the coolest parts of this experience was that I could increase or decrease the speed and power using my mind. I think this was a taste(just a taste!) of high level internal force. My arms were not tired afterward, rather I felt very powerful, happy and "wowed" during and after the practice session.
The Taijichuan courses are still going on and the Introduction to Shaolin Kungfu course will occur on Wednesday, so there will be even more to talk about.
I just performed the Lohan Asks The Way kung fu set. I can totally feel the difference in my power compared to before the course. An example: when I perform Black Tiger Steals Heart, it's as if my arm is like a hose that quickly fills with water and stays filled with water, swaying slightly with the internal force that has entered my arm. During the chi flow afterward there was cleansing pushing through blockages in my chest and stomach. I performed Carrying The Moon/Golden Shower afterward and became so happy.
Thank you, Sifu.

Hi everyone, first of all I would like to thank Sifu and Joan Sije very much for this wonderful week of courses again this year. I have finally realised what everyone on here has said over and over again with regard to deepening your skill. After doing both the chi kung and kung fu courses, I can now see how learning the same material is so important and how it makes further progressions much easier. Also I went into the courses with one objective for the chi kung and one for the kung fu and am glad to say I have achieved them both. If I had not set such a goal I think I would probably have struggled and received less benefits.
Finally one piece of advice that Sifu said to us all, "do what your teacher says and if an instruction is not said there is no need to do it".

Got back last night and feeling full of energy, a good grounded energy rather than nervous energy.
Mark, I would just like to say how helpful that conversation with you was. It helped me to realise what I know. I am better at letting go now and I agree it is definitely better than holding on.
Shaolin Wahnam feels like a family to me now. Each time I go back to a course I meet old friends, people I have only talked to on the forum and people I have never come into contact with before. I could say it is great but sometimes language fails to encompass everything that is experienced.
Cosmic shower and sinew metamorphisis became more alive to me in this course. In the shower it felt like a drainpipe with lots of gooey muck in it, that was being washed away slowly but inexorably with the action of the "water". Sinew metamorphisis was a more gentle powerful experience this time. Amazing also how the energy went shooting through causing my body to react in a way I didn't need to think about.
Wonderful to get a chance to talk to Sifu. Up to now I have felt shy and nervous of talking to him. That blockage is going and it I am really pleased.
Wonderful to spend time with Joan and Nicky, both my elder sisters. As a course attendee it is easy to experience a well run course and take it for granted. This time I had a chance to experience how much hard work goes into making a great course.
Great to spend time with so many people I feel I can open up to. Also a great dinner and singsong on Valentines night. John played guitar and sang one of his own songs - a really moving experience. Also great to spar with him and I am contemplating the "battle scars" as I write.
I could write more but I need to go off and run a group.

Hello to all the lovely and friendly people I met in Ireland!
I'm back home and and just finished a short Tai Chi stance training and It feels great and refreshing.
There's a lot to thank so I'll better start:
Thank you Sifu for making me feel I can do it. As you said -"Tai Chi is a breeze!" and the minute I looked at it as so (about the middle of the session) I could do it.
I feel I have to practice a lot in order to get my foot work correct but it's fun and rewarding.
The Chi Kung for me was very different from the last course (two years ago) this time I felt inner peace which was soft and deep, not like happy fun and joy state of mind but rather a quiet and stillness of awarness, a very powerful experience.
Thank you Joan and all your helpers, you made me and Amir feel welcomed and part of the Wahnam family, which is an honour to belong to.
The Galla dinner was wonderful and the music was just the thing we were looking for in Ireland - real live folk music that is played for family and friends.
Thank you all of the Wahnam people that I met, I don't want to write all the names in case I forget someone, it's been a pleasure to meet you all.
I think being on a course like this is a life changer and seeing other people transform in front of your eyes makes you part of it.
So thank you for being part of my way and sharing your journey with me.
It is always wonderful to watch Sifu teach. To see new students opening their hearts and more advanced students deepen their skills going home to set new objectives
It was a wonderful international affair with students from Israel, Croatia, Malta, UK, Spain (US) and Switzerland.
It was especially heart warming having Pryia and Wauter come all the way from Holland for the Gala dinner. Sifu helped her little son overcome asthma and she wished to pay tribute by joining us for Valentine's night. It was a pleasure having you here Pryia.
Thanks to Barry and Amir (Racheli's husband) as well as all the other students who did a party piece--- Deirdre from Killarney, John from UK and my Dad.
Amir sang a wonderful Irish song with Hebrew words and Barry ........well what can I say.... Rod Stewert eat your heart out Well done to you all.
Thanks to everybody who told 'their wonderfully inspiring stories' during the courses and during the Gala dinner.
I have posted some photos of the Shaolin Chi Kung on this link
http://uk.msnusers.com/valentinesweek2006
and then click pictures.
I will be updating it during the day, it is a slow process as my line has been so slow over the past few days.
Next year, the tours will be back..... I didn't realise how popular they were last year, until everybody started asking about them last weekend.
The provisional dates for next years Valentine's week is after Chinese New Year which falls on February 18th. I will update on the Courses/Classes section in due course and on my website www.smilefromtheheart.ie
I hope to see you all back again for more wonderful courses and singsongs.
A big Mile Bhuiochas to Sifu for continuing to come to Ireland, we feel very blessed having your presence and unique teaching in such a small country.
Sije Joan, this post is a little late but I am just catching up with the forum since my return home!
Thank you to Sifu and to Sije Joan for a fantastic week and courses in Killarney. I am very pleased to see that there is already a provisional date for Killarney next year. Joan always puts a great deal of time and effort into organising these courses, with shared meals and trips, and helping people with all their queries. That really shows through in the group spirit that is generated.
The music after the Valentines dinner was really great. I particularly enjoyed hearing so many of our Wahnam family singing or playing during the evening.
Regards to everyone who was there,
Nicky

July 2005: Testimonial by Timmy Browne (my nephew) aged 10.
I started Chi Kung with my Auntie Joan when I was eight, I've been practising my Chi Kung for two years. I am now ten. My first problem was a wart that disappeared after four weeks. Over two years I have started to sleep better at night. I used to often wake up at around four o clock in the morning and have a slight tummy ache, now I sleep through the night and have no more tummy aches.
Two months ago, I was at a birthday party. We were playing rugby when I tripped over and fractured my wrist. I went in to the hospital and I got a cast. When I went in the first time, I had to keep it on and when I went in the second time, I was allowed to take it off. The doctor said he was amazed that it had healed so fast and my Mom was very happy.
Before I used to get sore lips, but now they have disappeared. I am very happy because some of my cousins used to call me names but now they don't.
I would like if other kids would do chi kung because it helps with lots of problems.
PS from Joan: Timmy has written this by himself, he saw me uploading this page one night and asked if he could also write how Chi Kung has helped him. As he is only ten, he does not practice every single day, but attends my classes and does some practice on his own during the week.
July 2005: Testimonial by my Shaolin Wahnam Canadian sister Emiko Hsuen on curing herself from the 'incurable disease' endometriosis.
June 2005. Another chi Kung success story! written by Hubert Razack
5 months ago my sister attended a regional Chi Kung course with Sifu in Ireland.
For more than 6 years before that she has been depressed, and has suffered from a serious eating disorder. She tried the usual psychotherapy, psychiatry, medecines, etc... with no success. She has always been living by my parents, and despite all their support, was feeling very insecure, not really nowing what to do with her life.
I still remember when she asked Sifu, while we were having dinner, "does Chi Kung help to find one's way into life?" Sifu replied (I'm paraphrasing) "Yes, it will give you clarity of mind and mental focus, so that you will have a clear idea of where you need to go, and a better direction" And then he carried on enjoying his food
After the first day of the course, I noticed something different with her. She was... sparkling! She told me that during one of the sessions, she felt a strong sensation to her stomach, and experienced some sort of primal scream. It was the first time in 6 years that she had any sensation of her stomach!
Since then she has been practicing regularly, on her own.
Yesterday I received an email from her. She had some medical tests done to see how things were going. Again, for the first time in more than 6 years, she has gained some weight and all her results were perfectly fine! She has also decided on what she wanted to do, and has successfully passed some exams to start studying next year (it's been 4 years that she didn't dear to)
The most wonderful thing is that she says that she is now peaceful, that she has found her way in life, and, well, she's happy!
By her own words, this week end in Ireland has been a turning point in her life. So, on her behalf, thank you Joan, and thank you Sifu
June 2005.
Dear Joan, I'm not sure exactly what the condition was. The thing is, before Christmas I had a very bad head-cold which developed into Sinusitis; this lasted for three weeks. Ever since then, my eyes were very sore. Every time I woke up it took from 3-5 minutes of slowly opening my eyes, and then furiously blinking to be able to focus properly. My GP said he thought it could be mucus that found its way through the tear-ducts and then settled under the eyelids, causing irritation. He suggested using an eyebath to flush it out. I tried that, but it only gave momentary relief. My eyes were always bloodshot, and so sore. I am an avid reader, but I just couldn't focus on the script..I had to keep blinking, which hurt more.
I went to see an optician who said that as I suffer from Arthritis it could cause my eyes to become dry; she suggested using artificial tears. This proved to be expensive and again only momentarily effective. The pharmacist thought linseed oil capsules may help.
On the morning of that Tuesday you taught us the massage, I had decided to make an appointment to see an eye specialist because it was interfering so much with my driving, and in general. I really thought that my sight was going...I couldn't even watch TV .
After your lesson, I went home and to bed. During the night I awoke to go to the bathroom.......and just opened my eyes! I closed and opened them several times because I couldn't believe ther was no pain at all, and I could just open them; I thought I must be dreaming. The next morning, and ever since I have suffered no pain at all, and everything is much clearer. After only 2 massages during the lesson!!!! I am thrilled. Karin Cork, Ireland

February 2005:
Dear Joan: Thank you and Sifu so much for the week in Ireland. I had such a wonderful time and have been on a high since coming home. There were so many deep experiences on this trip- not even just during training sessions and I am very grateful to you and to Sifu for the opportunity to have had those. Looking forward to seeing you soon, love Nicky. London UK
February 2005.
Joan: A thousand thanks for organising such a wonderful time for me and everyone else over there. If one (unfortunate) measure of the success of these things is that one is in many ways sad to return to the real world then it was very successful. May you organise many more and may you continue to do good for the world by helping to spread the schools teachings. Thanks again, Love from Mike B. UK
February 2005.
Joan; Thank you for organising the week for us and for your generous giving in teaching Chi Kung. Jimmy and Mary. The following is a poem written by Jimmy.
For Joan Feb 22nd 05
Some people work endlessly and get caught up in living.
Others go with the flow
And tirelessly end up giving generously
Is a fitting word very few can wear
It comes from inner joy
When the heart is free of care
It considers not the outcome
And is free of expectation
Joyfully it runs its course
Driven by inspiration
Attentiveness to detail
Standing back you do not smother
Yet quietly through loves presence
Youre there to support another
So we thought this card (enclosed) was fitting as it
Shows a twinkling star that shines on all freely, exactly where you are.
In Love, light, peace and joy, we are with you always, Mary and Jimmy.
December 2004.
Hi Joan:
Firstly I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I hope you have a lovely time.
Id also like to express my sincere gratitude and deep respect for the kindness and generosity you showed me when I came to see you.
You truly are a wonderful, shining example of all that is great about the art of Chi Kung and you a re a reminder to me about all the good qualities I hope to achieve in my practise of this art. I thank you.
I left Ireland shortly after visiting you so unfortunately I was unable to continue to receive your teachings, which I enjoyed immensely and found to be expert in their simplicity and effectiveness. Again I thank you.
I am honoured to you for all you did for me and I will always be grateful to you. You have my deepest and heart felt love.
John Gleeson. Ireland.

Joan:
I would just like to thank you for a wonderful week in Killarney. The tours, food, accommodation and not forgetting the course were brilliant and I look forward to going back to Ireland next year. I met a lot of new friends and the atmosphere between the attendees was excellent all week long, which is a credit to you and Shaolin Wahnam Ireland.
Once again a very big thank you for a superb week.
Kind regards, Adrian UK
NOTE FROM JOAN: There are many more testimonials to come in the next few weeks and months. It is intersting to note that students who over come chronic illness e.g. years of back pain, arthritis, depression are often the slowest to share their benefits with others. Perhaps they do not understand that by sharing they are also helping to eliminate the suffering of humanity. Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit has travelled the world because of his passion for ending world suffering by teaching the once secretive Shaolin arts. We can help by sharing stories of pain relief or illnesses overcome by practising Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung. Email me at wahnam@eircom.net
Please remember my wonderful Dad in your thoughts and prayers.
My late Father - Timmy
On May 22nd 2007 my wonderful Dad and Shaolin Wahnam Student, passed on from this life at the age of 89.
After almost dying in January/Feburary of this year, he had made an excellent recovery thanks to the wonderful help and compassion of Boddhisatva Guan Yin, Our Lady, Sifu and medical staff. However, God had other plans for him and he left this life very suddenly, but without pain or suffering, in excellent spirits and in the middle of his family for which we feel very blessed. We miss him terribly but have felt a huge sense of peace and calm over the past few days.
His consultant in the hospital commented last February that he was 'The Miracle Man' and that not many pass through the hospital like him. He became a student of Sifu's in February 2001 and has astounded both his consultant and GP by continuing to live so well. He was driving right up to the morning of his passing and had visited many of his friends and neighbours in the past few weeks regaling them with stories and songs.
May he rest in peace.

It was a wonderful week of courses conducted by Sifu. Where new students opened their hearts for the first time and more advanced students deepened their skills, going home with new objectives in mind. It was wonderful to see such an international flaour, with people coming from Israel, Switzerland, Holland, Malta, Spain and the UK as well as Ireland.
The Wahnam Tai Chi Chuan and Shaolin Kungfu were an eyeopener for many students, even those with martial art experieince. Their taste of internal force was real, even on the first day. How to use Wahnam Tai Chi Chuan and Shaolin Kungfu form in combat was also a first for many students.
It was also wonderful to see so many of the Irish students take the Wahnam Tai Chi Chuan and Shaolin Kungfu courses. We now have a core group who will one day be able to keep the genuine Shaolin tradition and teachings alive.
Well done to you all!
Mile Bhuiochas to Sifu for continuing to travel globally in his earnest love to spread and continue the genuine Shaolin Arts.
For those who are confused on the different classifications of Chi Kung (Qigong).
Chi Kung can be classified into the following:
Medical Chi Kung
Taoist Chi Kung
Buddhist Chi Kung
Confucianist Chi Kung
Martial Chi Kung
Medical Chi Kung is used for healing, where dynamic patterns are practised to cure as well as prevent illness.
Taoist Chi Kung noted for some profound breathing techniques and visualisation exercises is mainly concerned with the prevention of illness and longevity.
Buddhist Chi Kung emphasises mind cultivation and spiritual development.
Martial Chi Kung enhances combat ability.
Confucianist Chi Kung focuses freshness of mind and mental clarity.
Luckily, Shaolin Chi Kung encompasses all of the above. You do not need to practice separate styles to develop all of the various benefits.
The benefits of practising Shaolin Chi Kung are:
Good health (overcoming illness and/or maintaining health),
Vitality
Mental focus and clarity
Internal force
Longevity
Spiritual development.
As in all of the Shaolin teachings-- Simple, Direct and Effective!
As well as many Testimonials on this website, I encourage you to visit Sifu Emiko Hsuen's website also. Sifu Emiko cured herself from the 'incurable disease' endometriosis. She travelled to see Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit in Malaysia to learn Shaolin Chi Kung and Shaolin Kungfu. This is a must see website and story for women who suffer from this disease.
It is the aim of the Shaolin Wahnam Institute to help end human pain, sadness & suffering by promoting the benefits of Shaolin Chi Kung.
Professor Sen, a famous Chinese Scientist, predicted that Chi Kung would provide one of the most successful breakthroughs in the medical field in this century.
The generous sharing of your story will inspire, help and give hope to many people who suffer from chronic illness of a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual nature.

I was surfing the internet trying to figure out answers to some experiences of mine I've been having over the last several years. At last I think I have an answer. I started meditating a few years ago to relieve stress. I had heard of the benefits of simply relaxing and wanted to give it a try. After a bit of time, spontaneous movements began occuring. I wasn't sure what it was, it looked like a combindation of Tai-Chi In any case, I was quite alarmed. I sought out some help, and recieved some. But the explanations of what these movements were went unanswered.
However, your website and others have helped a great deal. Apparently, what's happening is Zi Fa Dong Gong. I wanted to know if there was any advice you have as to how best to deal with it. It seems to help me overall, but I would like to know more about it. If you have any advice, I'd love to hear from you. Richard, Australia
Answer 8 Yes, yours is "Zi Fa Dong Gong" or Self.Manifested Chi Movement.
Self-Manifested Chi Movement is a genre of chi kung exercises where practitioners move about as if involuntarily. The movements are involuntary because the practitioners do not move them on purpose, but they are voluntary because the practitioners can control the movements if they want and if they have the skills.
In your case, you did not think of doing Tai Chi Chuan or yoga movements, yet your movements resembled those of Tai Chi Chuan or yoga. But if you wish and if you have the skills, you could control the movements. You could, for example, slow down or quicken the movements or cause them to move differently. But as you are not trained to do so, it is best that you let your chi flow spontaneously on its own, unless if the movements become too vigorous in which case you just gently think of the movements slowing down.
Such self-manifested chi movements are the result of spontaneous chi flow. Chi flows in everyone of us irrespective of whether he practices chi kung. Most people are not aware of their chi flow just as they are not aware of their blood flow. Chi flow is a natural process, just as other physiological processes that are necessary for life, like your digestive juices digesting the food you have eaten, your wroker-cells constantly repairing wears and tears inside your body, and your anit-bodies inhibiting or killing harmful viruses and bacteria that may otherwise cause you big problems.
Although these physiological processes are essential, we are generally not aware of their working. Chi flow is in fact the fundamental process. It ensures that the other processes are working properly. This is concisely summed up in traditional Chinese medical jargon as "when your chi is flowing harmoniously, you will be physically and mentallyt healthy."
But for most people their chi flow is blocked in nurmerous places. The causes of the blockage are many and varied, such as mental stress, muscular tension, pathogenic attacks and physical injuries. These energy blockages disrupt harmonious chi flow, thus affecting their natural physiological and psychological processes, resulting in their having less vitality as they should. If the blockages become more pronounced, it results in pain and illness..
In your case, your meditation practice enables you to be relaxed. This enables your chi to flow better. As you are sufficiently relaxed physically and mentally, your chi flow moves your body. Should you tense your body or start to intellectualize, your chi flow would be stop. Hence it is important to be relaxed and not to think of anything.
Self-Manifested Chi Movement is actually a very safe exercise (if it is performed correctly). But for various reasons it is not commonly taught. One reason is that not many chi kung teachers know this form of chi kung, as it was kept secretive in the past. Secondly it is not easy to teach Self-Manifested Chi Movement. The teacher should be trained to do so.
Congratulations. You have done well. Self-Manifested Chi Movement has developed in you spontaneously as a result of your dedicated, and correct, meditation practice. You have a treasure now. If you value health more than money, you actually have a treasure that is worth more than the magic touch of turning stones to gold. If you just practice daily your meditation leading to self-manifested chi movements, you will have good health, vitality and longevity.
Many people find it hard to believe that such a simple exercise can bring such wonderful benefits. For some odd reasons, they believe that for an art to be effective, its practice as well as philosophy need to be complicated. This is not so. If you take a minute to reflect, you will find that many great and beautiful things in life, as well as in arts and science, are simple -- and profound, i.e. not complicated and not shallow. Clear your mind of all thoughts and listen to a raindrop, and you may hear the music of heaven. If you start to reason why the raindrop fall, the music will be lost. Or, for the less poetic, savour your food as you chew it, and you will find eating your daily meanls a pleasure. If you start thinking of how many calories you are taking in or what you have to tell your clients after lunch, you will find eating your meals a chore.
The philosophy of Self-Manifested Chi Flow, or of any chi kung exercise, is so simple and beautiful. When your chi flows harmoniously, it will enable all your cells, tissues, organs and systems to work naturally. When they work naturally -- for example, when food gets into your stomach your digestive juices digest it, when wears and tears occur inside your body your regenerative system repair them, and when harmful viruses and bacteria get into your body your defence system clear them away -- you remain healthy. When you chi flow becomes vigorous, you have vitality. When your cells, tissues, organs and systems are healthy they last a long time, giving you longevity.
